The Inaugural London to Brighton EV Rally
May 11th 2021
Please note: Due to COVID-19 rates rising significantly in Brighton & Hove, the Rally has been postponed until September 18th.
The first-ever London to Brighton Electric Vehicle rally is just a few months away now and is shaping up to be a great day for EV and clean energy enthusiasts.
The event organisers have just announced that the event will be proudly sponsored by EDF Energy, Britain’s biggest generator of zero-carbon electricity and a leading EV provider. Tom Druitt, co-founder of the Rally said "We are so happy to be working with EDF - they understand our aspirations perfectly and have shown a real enthusiasm for what we stand for. The partnership will enable us to put on a world-class event and we are very grateful to them for their support.”
Participants completing the 58-mile journey from the banks of the River Thames will finish at Brighton Beach on Madeira Drive, where an E-Village will be packed full of showcases, entertainment, food & drink - along with an area for people to test drive electric vehicles. For anyone thinking about making the switch to an EV, it'll be a great opportunity to learn more and discover the great benefits they can offer.
They will also be an award ceremony at the Grand Hotel with prizes for participants, including one for the lowest energy consumption.
It's not too late to sign-up to take part in the rally - which is open to everyone from just £60. Whether you're an electric vehicle driver or biker, a cyclist or a "Heath Robinson" self-build genius, there's a category for you:
- E-Bikes
- E-Motorbikes
- City cars
- Saloon cars
- SUVs
- Vans
- Buses
- Trucks
- Minibuses
- Public Transport
- Self-builds
The 27 entrants so far include a Renault Twizy microcar, a Sinclair C5, solar-powered vehicles and a self-build vehicle, built from a chicken coup!
We're proud to be supporting this incredible event. Be sure to mark the diary Sunday 18th September and come on down to Madiera Drive to meet all the contestants and see the very latest in electric vehicles.
