Local news
New chargers for Churchill Square
Brighton's main shopping mall, Churchill Square has recently had 8 new chargers installed. These 22kW AC fast chargers are in a great location for being out-and-about in town.
Brighton Churchill Square car park is open 24hours a day and the cost to use the chargers is 0.39p per kW.
They are managed by Franklin Energy and can be accessed via the LiFe EV App or the PlugSurfing App.
New chargers at Brighton and Hove railway stations
Southern Rail first announced that they would be replacing the electric vehicle chargers at both Brighton and Hove railway stations way back at the end of 2017.
Well, at the start of July, this finally happened and the very old existing chargers were replaced with brand new ones. There are six 7kW charging outlets at Brighton, and four at Hove. They are free to use and all you need in order to use them is the Pod-Point app. Plug-in, the charge will start and you have 15 minutes to confirm your charge from the app, meaning you can even do it from the train if you're running late.
Two more lamp post chargers enter operation
As Brighton & Hove Council continue their work on deploying lamp post chargers across the city, two more locations have been added to the network, either side of Wish Park in Hove. Saxon Road offers visitor parking during the day, whilst Wish Road is available for residents during the day. Both are available overnight without residents permit.
Keep an eye out for more lamp post chargers coming online over the coming months.
August 11th: Sussex EVs Brighton meetup
Friendly community group, Sussex EVs will be hosting another Brighton meetup on August 11th at Withdean Leisure Centre. The last meetup was a great chance to see a broad range of electric vehicles and meet drivers in Brighton and across Sussex. If you're a local driver or curious about getting an electric vehicle, it's a great chance to find out more about the practicalities of owning an EV.
To stay up to date and find out about future EV meetups, you can join their community group on Facebook.
